On our way to Rome, driving through the rolling hills of Umbria, our busload stopped for a wine-tasting lunch at a family-run winery.
The host's wife had prepared a feast to accompany the wines that the vintner allowed us to sample as he lectured on the details of harvesting, fermenting, and bottling.
Then it was on to Rome.
